Year in Review: 2015

2015 was an exciting year for the Israeli Special Forces. While 2014 was framed by operations Brother's Keeper and Protective Edge, in 2015 the IDF was able to focus on training and reorganization.

Here are the highlights for 2015:

1. A new Commando Brigade was established, comprised of Duvdevan, Egoz, Rimon and Maglan.

2. Joint training with international forces continued, including exercises with the U.S. and Germany.

3. Several SF units celebrated their 40th Anniversary, including 669, Oketz and the Counter Terror School.

4. The Micro Tavor became increasingly popular with SF units, so did the new Meprolight MOR and helmet mounted cameras.

5. Several IDF Competitions took place including Sniping and Military Medicine.

6. An Israeli TV series called Fauda was the first ever to focus on the Israeli SF. The show Featured a fictional undercover unit, with real world IDF SF veterans involved in production and acting.
