The AN/PVS-4 is a Gen II, X3.6 sight, known in the IDF as “VARO” after one of its manufactures. It entered service in the IDF in the mid-1980's and served for over a decade until replaced by the the AN/PVS-12 Aquila in the mid-1990's.
